Richard Onyonka has publicly confirmed that former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission commissioner Roselyn Akombe is one of his wives, opening up for the first time about his family life and describing himself as a proud polygamist.
The Kisii Senator made the revelation during a family gathering as preparations continue for his mother’s burial in Kisii later this month. Onyonka disclosed that he has more than three wives and is the father of 12 children, saying he has embraced polygamy and takes pride in his large family.
In his remarks, Onyonka said many people were unaware of his marriage to Akombe, noting that she had played a significant role in supporting his family, including caring for his mother and helping facilitate her medical treatment in the United States.
Akombe, who served as an IEBC commissioner during Kenya’s 2017 General Election before resigning amid disputes over the electoral process, has largely kept her private life away from the public eye.
