“Gachagua can deliver 4 million votes Unlike Kalonzo and Matiang’i” Alleges Ahmednasir

Renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has thrown his weight behind former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, calling him the only serious candidate who can bring millions of votes to the 2027 presidential race.

Ahmednasir, known for his bold political views, said in a post on X that Gachagua could deliver at least 4 million votes, making him the strongest challenger to President William Ruto.

According to Ahmednasir, no other candidate comes close to matching Gachagua’s influence and support base. He ranked Kalonzo Musyoka second with about 1.5 million votes and placed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at around 400,000 votes, even with the backing of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ahmednasir went on to dismiss the rest of the political class, saying they could only bring between 10,000 to 250,000 votes. This shows the wide gap between Gachagua and other hopefuls in the race. His statement paints a clear picture of how 2027 might shape up, with Gachagua appearing to lead the opposition camp in both numbers and energy.

This public endorsement came just days after Gachagua officially declared that he was ready to challenge President Ruto and become the opposition’s flagbearer in the next general election.

Gachagua has already made major moves towards this goal. This week, he launched his new party, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), signaling a fresh political path away from UDA and President Ruto.

He said he was ready to work with anyone who wants to rescue Kenya from what he described as failed leadership and a broken system. In an interview with the local media, Gachagua confirmed that he has not spoken to President Ruto since he was impeached.

He said he has cut all political ties with Ruto and is now focused on ending his presidency in 2027.He blamed the current administration for mismanagement, corruption, and growing insecurity.

He pointed to recent cases of abductions and state-sponsored violence as clear signs that the government is no longer protecting its citizens. Gachagua compared the current opposition movement to the 2002 unity wave that ended President Moi’s long rule.

He said the same spirit is rising once again and it will push President Ruto out of power just like Moi was removed.Gachagua also accused the government of using dirty tactics to frustrate his plans. He claimed that goons were sent to disrupt his party launch event and asked the state to stop interfering with his political journey.

He said he would not be intimidated and would continue building a strong and united opposition. Gachagua made it clear that he has completely moved on from President Ruto and is now on a mission to bring real change to Kenya through leadership that puts citizens first.
