Rigathi Gachagua declares war on Mount Kenya traitors in fiery Nyandarua speech

On Sunday, April 27, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched a strong attack against Mount Kenya Members of Parliament and Senators. Gachagua criticized leaders who had decided to work closely with Kenya Kwanza and President William Ruto, accusing them of betraying the region for personal gain.

While speaking to a crowd in Nyandarua, Gachagua passionately urged the people of Central Kenya to remember and support politicians who had stayed loyal to the region when 2027 comes. He also told them to punish those he called mountain traitors by voting them out of office.

During his emotional speech, Gachagua praised the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Nyandarua for refusing to be bought off, unlike some Members of Parliament. He thanked the Speaker and the Leader of Majority for standing firm and bringing pride to Nyandarua County.

He accused MPs of selling out the community for as little as Ksh500,000. According to him, the problems facing the region today are a direct result of these leaders’ betrayal. He made it clear that when the time to vote arrives, the people should not forget what these leaders did.

Gachagua compared the current situation to the dark days of colonialism, where traitors among the locals would betray the Mau Mau freedom fighters to the British colonizers.

He reminded the crowd that the Mau Mau used to kill traitors before even dealing with the colonizers because the damage caused by betrayal was much worse. Using this comparison, he called on voters to first deal with their own traitors before dealing with external enemies like President Ruto.

He urged them to identify and vote out the MPs who are strengthening Ruto’s rule at the expense of the mountain region’s interests.

He warned that all the suffering and bad policies being planned by Ruto are being supported by leaders from the region who act as spies for the president. Gachagua told the people that even if they dislike Ruto, their first and most important job in 2027 is to remove the traitors from leadership.

Only by doing so, he said, can the region elect people who truly care about their community’s future. Since he was impeached in October 2024, Gachagua has become one of the fiercest critics of the Kenya Kwanza government.

He has consistently exposed what he claims are deep secrets and betrayals within Ruto’s leadership. Mount Kenya lawmakers who sided with Ruto during Gachagua’s impeachment have been at the center of his frequent attacks.

There have been strong rumors that some MPs and MCAs were paid bribes of Ksh500,000 and Ksh100,000 respectively to support the impeachment. Gachagua’s message was clear and emotional, those who betrayed the mountain should pay the political price in 2027.
