Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has openly declared her support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 General Election, announcing that she will back him for a second term while pursuing a third term of her own in Parliament.
Speaking in a video shared on her official X account on Monday, January 26, 2026, the legislator made her political position clear using a popular Swahili phrase.
“Yangu ni three term ya Rais ni two term. Twende kazi bila kelele,” Wamuchomba stated, affirming her loyalty to the President while urging a focus on development over political noise.
Draped in a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) scarf during a meeting at State House, the MP said she felt fully at home within the ruling party.“Niko nyumbani. Niko State House kwa UDA,” she remarked confidently.
Wamuchomba further revealed that her priority for 2026 would be development, noting that political contests could wait.
“Yeah, I have decided this year I want maendeleo na kazi. Siasa tutapiga baadaye,” she added.
Her endorsement comes months after she sparked online debate by criticising the enthusiasm of teachers who were seen dancing with President Ruto at State House.
At the time, Wamuchomba questioned why civil servants were celebrating despite heavy salary deductions and rising financial pressures.
“I saw teachers dancing with the President, very excited. Kwani, what did he give them? Did he remove the house levy?” she posted in September 2025.
She also expressed concern that many civil servants continue to struggle with reduced disposable income, warning that public frustration should not be ignored even as political support is mobilised.
Her latest declaration, however, signals a firm political alignment with President Ruto as the ruling party begins shaping strategies for the 2027 contest.
