The removal of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro from his position as Chairman of the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee has raised serious concerns within former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s camp.
The unexpected silence from Nyoro following his removal has fueled speculation about internal rifts in the Kenya Kwanza coalition and the future of Mt. Kenya politics.
Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, a vocal ally of Gachagua, took to social media to question Nyoro’s silence, suggesting that it was not normal.
He argued that Nyoro’s lack of reaction could indicate something bigger behind the scenes. Njiru went further to claim that President William Ruto might be using Nyoro as a secret political project, possibly preparing him for a 2027 presidential bid to divide Mt. Kenya votes.
His post on X raised questions about whether Ruto had a hidden agenda, asking why Nyoro was not angry about his removal if it was not part of a calculated plan.
Nyoro was once seen as one of Ruto’s most trusted allies, especially before the controversial impeachment of Gachagua in September 2024.
However, his removal from the budget committee is now being interpreted by Gachagua’s supporters as part of a broader political scheme to reshape Mt. Kenya’s leadership.
The timing of the decision has only added to suspicions that power games are in play ahead of the next election cycle.
Some political analysts believe that Nyoro’s ouster is linked to a larger plan by Ruto to create new power dynamics in Mt. Kenya. His decision to remain silent despite losing such an influential position has only intensified speculation.

If he was truly a victim of political betrayal, many would expect a stronger reaction from him. Instead, his calm demeanor suggests he may be following a predetermined script. One key event that raises more questions about Nyoro’s position was his decision not to vote in favor of Gachagua’s impeachment.
His neutrality during the process kept him from directly taking sides, allowing him to maintain influence across different factions within Mt. Kenya.
This move has made some believe that he is playing a long-term political game, possibly under Ruto’s guidance.
For Gachagua’s allies, the silence from Nyoro is a warning sign that the president could be making moves to sideline them in Mt. Kenya politics. If Nyoro is indeed being prepared for higher office, it could mean that Ruto is looking for a new face to lead the region, weakening Gachagua’s influence.
This possibility has left many in the former deputy president’s camp wary of the unfolding political realignment.
Despite the ongoing speculation, Nyoro himself has not publicly addressed his removal or responded to Njiru’s claims. Whether he is staying quiet to avoid conflict or if he is truly part of a bigger political strategy remains unclear.
However, his position within Kenya Kwanza and Mt. Kenya politics will continue to be closely watched as the country moves towards the 2027 elections.
