A survey by Mwelekeo Insights on the 2027 Member of Parliament race for Maragua Constituency has placed Wambui Nyutu of the Democracy for the Citizens’ Party (DCP) in the lead.
The findings show clear preferences among those who took part, with one candidate standing well ahead of the rest.
Survey Results Show Strong Lead for Wambui Nyutu
According to the final rankings, Wambui Nyutu received 54.9 percent support. This puts her more than twenty percentage points ahead of the next candidate.
Mary Wamaua of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) came second with 31.5 percent.
Jimmy Mbaku followed in third place with 11.5 percent.
The remaining candidates received much smaller shares: Cyrus Ngugi (DCP) at 0.9 percent, Laban Choma (DCP) at 0.7 percent, and William Kamau Ngoru of Jubilee at 0.5 percent.
These figures highlight a clear gap at the top.
Nyutu’s share is nearly as large as the combined support for all other candidates. Wamaua’s 31.5 percent shows she remains a strong contender, while the rest of the field trails far behind.
What the Percentages Suggest About Voter Preference
The results point to a preference for change or continuity under Nyutu’s name in Maragua.
Her lead of 54.9 percent suggests that a majority of those surveyed see her as the strongest option for the constituency.
