A woman in Uasin Gishu County is pleading for government help to rescue her daughter, who is trapped and unwell in Saudi Arabia.
The mother, identified as Faith Chemeli Chepkwony from Cheptiret, says her daughter, known as Frenda Chelangat, has been mistreated by her employer and denied the chance to return home despite being very sick.

Chelangat reportedly traveled to Saudi Arabia on a two-year work visa to work as a domestic worker. Her family says she initially hoped the opportunity would improve their lives, but things took a painful turn.
According to her mother, Chelangat fell ill while in Saudi Arabia and has been unable to get proper medical care.
To make matters worse, her agent has allegedly withheld her travel documents, preventing her from returning to Kenya for treatment.
In a heartfelt statement, Faith Chemeli explained that her daughter’s condition has continued to worsen, and the family has run out of options. She said they do not have the money to pay for her return or her medical needs.
“I am writing to you today with a desperate plea for assistance regarding the return of Kenyan citizen Frenda Chelangat, who is currently in a difficult and urgent situation in Saudi Arabia,” her message read.
She added that Chelangat cannot work, has no income, and cannot access the help she needs.
The statement also identified the agent involved as NACLA Agencies Ltd, whom she accused of denying her daughter travel documents despite her illness.
Faith Chemeli appealed to the government to step in and help with the costs of repatriation, including the plane ticket to Nairobi, temporary accommodation, and medical assistance once her daughter arrives.
She said her family has tried everything they can but remains helpless due to financial constraints.
Kesses Member of Parliament Julius Rutto shared the mother’s message on his Facebook page on Monday night, confirming that Faith Chemeli had contacted him directly seeking help. The MP said he was deeply moved by the family’s situation and has since forwarded the message to the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Korir Sing’oei, urging the ministry to take immediate action.
Rutto emphasized that no Kenyan should suffer abroad without government intervention, especially in cases involving illness and denial of basic rights. He called on the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Affairs to ensure that Chelangat is safely brought home and that the agency involved is investigated.
The family remains hopeful that the government will act swiftly to bring Frenda Chelangat back to Kenya for the treatment and support she urgently needs.
