School accused of murder cover-up of form 2 student after drowning

Parents of a Form Two pupil at a Makueni school are outraged after their kid died in mysterious circumstances last Saturday.

However, it took the school nearly three days to notify the parents of their son’s death. The family alleges they just found out about their son’s death on Monday, February 10, at 5 p.m., nearly three days after his body was discovered floating in the school pool.

“We were told our child passed on Saturday (February 8). They failed to disclose knowledge of our son’s death from Saturday, Sunday, and Monday,” claimed the child’s father.

“It was only on Monday (February 10) at 5:00pm that we received a phone call telling us to rush to the school after our son was picked up by the police in a bad state and that he has seemingly died,” he added.

The family also claimed that the school’s administration conspired to undermine the investigations following the child’s death by orchestrating a last-minute change in the pathologist conducting the post-mortem.

The deceased’s relatives accused the school’s owner and DCI investigators of conspiring after their son’s post-mortem was postponed.

They staged demonstrations at the Makindu Sub-County Hospital morgue. The family stated that this occurred after they had already scheduled a post-mortem with their pathologist, only for the school to shift the goalposts.

“We had come with the pathologist as everything was ready and had been well prepared, even by the DCI,” the child’s father stated.

“It was only after we had arrived that we were informed of the new development. The DCI stated that they were waiting for a pathologist from Nairobi.”

For his part, the school’s owner stated that he did not trust the pathologist hired by the bereaved family, which influenced the decision to postpone the post-mortem.

However, the family contested this.“If the school wanted to know the cause of death of the child, it would have worked hand in hand with the DCI and hospital,” a bereaved family member lamented.

“The hospital should have been ready on the day the child passed so that they could tell us what transpired. Why were they hiding information and taking us around in circles?”

However, the hospital’s medical superintendent indicated that DCI officials had requested a government pathologist and that a new post-mortem date had already been scheduled.

The deceased’s family has ignored the latest information, urging a swift resolution to the case. The post-mortem will now be done on Tuesday, February 18.
