Cyrus Jirongo blames Kenyan leaders for turning government into a looting scheme

Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has come out strongly against the current leadership in Kenya, accusing them of having no real intention to serve the people.

During an interview with K24 TV on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Jirongo openly criticized the top leaders, saying they have used their positions to enrich themselves through corruption.

He said the government has completely abandoned its responsibility to Kenyans and is now focused only on looting public resources.

Jirongo did not hold back, stating clearly that the leaders in power do not care about the people.

He said, “Currently, I don’t think anybody cares about the Kenyan people.” He added that the goal of getting into power was never about leadership or improving the country but simply about stealing from the public.

According to him, those at the top have made it clear through their actions that development and service delivery are no longer a priority. Instead, they are more concerned about who gets what from public coffers.

Jirongo described the looting as bold and shameless, saying, “They are looting with impunity, and no one is even pretending to care about the people.”

He went on to highlight how ordinary Kenyans are facing tough times while leaders continue to enjoy luxury and special treatment.

The high cost of living, joblessness, and poor public services have made life harder for many, especially the youth. Jirongo said the promises made during campaigns have been forgotten, and people now feel betrayed.

He said young people, in particular, are angry and frustrated, and the government is doing nothing to address their concerns.

Jirongo warned that if the government does not change its direction and start focusing on real issues like creating jobs, fighting corruption, and proper governance, the situation will only get worse.

“There’s a storm coming if this trend continues,” he warned. “You can’t ignore the cries of a hungry, jobless, and angry population and expect peace.” His words reflect the growing unrest in the country as more and more people express their disappointment with the government’s performance.

In recent months, there has been an increase in public protests, many led by young people demanding accountability and better leadership.

The anger has been fueled by high taxes, misuse of funds, and reports of shady deals involving powerful government figures.

Jirongo said what the country needs is not more empty promises but honest leaders.

“We need leaders who care not looters in suits,” he concluded.

His remarks have added to the rising voices calling for real change in how the country is run.
