Ruto allies launch fierce counterattack after Uhuru blasts government

Allies of President William Ruto have launched scathing attacks on retired President Uhuru Kenyatta after his recent remarks criticizing the Kenya Kwanza administration.

During a Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC), Uhuru accused the government of failing to address key challenges facing Kenyans, including the high cost of living and poor service delivery.

His comments sparked a heated response from Ruto’s inner circle, who accused him of attempting to undermine the current leadership.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah dismissed Uhuru’s remarks as political incitement, warning that the former head of state risks losing his retirement benefits if he fully returns to active politics.

He said Uhuru should instead offer constructive advice rather than fueling division.

Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Nyali MP Mohamed Ali echoed similar sentiments, arguing that Uhuru had his chance to lead but left behind a country struggling with debt and corruption.

They claimed Kenyans are still bearing the consequences of his administration’s failures.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale noted that Uhuru should respect his retirement and allow President Ruto to deliver on his promises without interference. He added that Kenyans are keen on solutions, not endless political blame games.

However, political analysts say Uhuru’s bold comeback reflects growing discontent among Kenyans over rising taxes and economic hardships.

His remarks may also signal his determination to remain relevant in shaping Kenya’s political future.

The war of words between Ruto’s allies and Uhuru now sets the stage for heightened political tensions as the country heads toward the 2027 elections.
