Nick Mararo’s Podcast on Wheels debuts at Africa Forward Summit with focus on youth and people’s voices

Nick Mararo has continued to attract attention through his community-focused projects after unveiling a unique initiative under Base Yetu known as the Podcast on Wheels.

The mobile podcast studio, popularly referred to as a “nganya,” was introduced during a side event of the Africa Forward Summit at The Nova Garage.

The project is already being described as the first mobile podcast studio of its kind in Africa, bringing a fresh approach to storytelling and public engagement.

Unlike traditional podcast studios that require guests to travel to one location, the Podcast on Wheels is designed to move from one community to another across Kenya.

The idea behind the project is simple but powerful. Instead of expecting people to come to a studio in the city, the studio now goes directly to the people.

This allows ordinary Kenyans to speak freely in environments they know and feel comfortable in.

The project is expected to focus on voices that are often overlooked. Young people with talents and ideas, local innovators, artists, creatives, and cultural storytellers will all have an opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives.

Through this approach, Base Yetu hopes to create conversations that reflect the realities and diversity of communities across the country.

Mararo, who is the founder and public face behind Base Yetu, has built his reputation around youth empowerment, community programs, and entrepreneurship.

Over the years, the organization has been involved in activities aimed at bringing people together, including sports tournaments, entertainment events, and rehabilitation initiatives targeting young people.

Supporters say his work has remained consistent in focusing on opportunities that uplift communities.

His connection to Nyeri County has also played a major role in shaping his public image. Born and raised in the region, Mararo comes from a family known for public service. His late father served both as a councillor and a mayor, something many residents still remember.

For some locals, Mararo’s growing influence is seen as a continuation of that legacy.

Political discussions around his future have also started gaining momentum, with many in Nyeri viewing him as a possible contender for the Senate seat in the 2027 elections.

He’s often referred to him as “mheshimiwa,” praising his direct involvement in development projects and grassroots activities.

Reactions following the unveiling of the mobile podcast studio showed excitement from many followers, with several describing the initiative as creative and community-driven. Others simply congratulated him and encouraged him to continue with similar projects.

Despite the growing praise, Mararo has largely kept the attention on the work itself rather than personal politics.

His responses to supporters remained simple, mostly thanking them while promising more initiatives in the future.

The Podcast on Wheels reflects a vision that combines technology, creativity, and community engagement.

More than just a moving studio, the project aims to create a platform where ordinary Kenyans can tell their own stories without barriers.

Through Base Yetu, Mararo continues to push ideas centered on unity, empowerment, and giving communities a chance to be heard.
