“Imetosha” Bahati begs Kenyans to hive him a break after weeks of trending online

Kenyan singer Kevin Bahati has asked his fans to give him some space after weeks of being in the spotlight since his music comeback.

In a message on Instagram on Friday, October 10, 2025, Bahati said he has been trending for too long and wants Kenyans to focus on other artistes for a while.

“Dear Kenyans, since I made my musical comeback nime trend sana… please chukueni msanii mwingine ata mumuingilie kiasi… aaiii imetosha,” Bahati wrote.

Bahati has been trending since releasing his new song “Seti,” which has drawn both praise and criticism for its bold lyrics and explicit scenes.

The song hit one million views on YouTube just two days after its release, making it one of his most talked-about projects.

While celebrating the milestone, Bahati said he was proud to make history for the Kenyan music industry.

“Watoto wadogo nimewakalisha chini tumeandika history. Wanafaa kuwa wananitafuta!” he said happily.

He claimed “Seti” was the first Kenyan song to reach one million views in a single day and said this proved his strong influence in the industry.

Despite backlash, Bahati said he was not bothered by criticism and even joked that “Seti” had become the most disliked song in Kenya.

“Wamepeana dislikes 17,000 na likes 17,000. Inamaanisha kuna watu wana-dislike lakini bado wana-watch,” he said.

Bahati has also been trending after the death of Gengetone artiste Kevin Mburu Kinyanju, popularly known as Shalkido.

The singer faced backlash after sharing screenshots of his last chat with Shalkido, where the late musician had asked for a music collaboration.

Some fans accused Bahati of using the tragedy to gain attention.

In his tribute, Bahati said he was heartbroken that they never got to work together.

“You had just talked to my management on our collabo na mkapanga tuingie studio this coming week. Rest well, young king,” Bahati wrote.
