Bahati under fire as MAK condemns his reckless driving act with Diana Marua

The Motorist Association of Kenya (MAK) has raised concern over a viral video featuring popular musician Bahati engaging in what it termed as “irresponsible behavior” while driving.

The clip, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, shows the artist interacting inappropriately with his wife, Diana Marua, as he operates a moving vehicle.

In a strongly worded statement, the association condemned the act, saying it sets a bad example for the public, especially young fans who look up to celebrities.

MAK described Bahati’s conduct as a “blatant disregard for road safety laws” and called on authorities to take swift action.

“The viral video showing a musician licking his spouse’s foot while driving is a clear display of recklessness and disregard for road safety,” the statement read in part.

The association urged the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to investigate the matter and take appropriate legal steps to discourage similar incidents in the future.

According to MAK, distracted driving remains one of the leading causes of road accidents in Kenya, and such behavior by public figures only worsens the problem.

“Celebrities wield influence, and their actions whether positive or negative tend to shape public attitudes. It’s therefore concerning when individuals in the limelight treat safety regulations lightly,” the group noted.

The statement has since sparked debate online, with sections of the public supporting the association’s call for accountability, while others defended Bahati, arguing the video was filmed for entertainment purposes.

As of Wednesday, Bahati had not issued any official response to the claims, though the video remains a trending topic across major social media platforms, drawing sharp reactions from road safety advocates and fans alike.
