“I am safe” Miano dismisses reports linking her to viral road-rage attack

A viral video showing a group of people attacking passengers inside a vehicle has sparked confusion online after claims emerged that Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano was among those involved.Miano has, however, dismissed the reports, saying she was not the woman shown in the footage and that she was not attacked while travelling to work.

The CS addressed the claims on Monday, August 31, describing them as false and asking the public not to believe or spread the reports.

“Fake news and rumours spread like bushfire. Please, just ignore and have a fruitful week,” Miano stated.

She later confirmed that she was safe and continued with her normal duties, while expressing concern for the people who appeared in the video.

“I am safe, fully functional, and working as usual. My thoughts and prayers are with anyone who might have been affected by this, wishing them strength, peace, and a swift recovery,” she said.

The video shows unknown individuals confronting and attacking passengers inside a vehicle in what appears to be a road-rage incident.

It was later shared widely on social media alongside claims identifying one of the occupants as Miano.

Questions have since been raised about the identity of the people in the vehicle and whether the incident involved a government official.

Cabinet Secretaries normally travel with security officers assigned to protect them while on official duty.

Their movements are also generally accompanied by a limited official motorcade, following government efforts to reduce the use of public resources.

The standard arrangement includes a lead vehicle, the vehicle carrying the VIP and a chase vehicle.

The arrangement is intended to provide protection and help manage traffic and other security concerns.In the footage, however, there was no clear sign of a security detail responding to the attack. The lead vehicle was also not visible, while the vehicle did not appear to have a national flag at the front, which is commonly used to identify vehicles carrying senior government officials.

These details have added to the uncertainty surrounding the claims made about Miano.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over violence and the use of groups of youths in political activities as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned politicians across the political divide against engaging or supporting such groups, saying those found involved will be identified and face arrest.
