Dickens Kamau Odhiambo, widely known as Kamau wa Kisumu, has now come out with a shocking revelation claiming that his life is in danger after exposing what he says is a failed State House promise.
According to him, he never received the motorbike that President William Ruto promised him and other young people during a recent empowerment programme at State House.
His confession has raised questions about the credibility of the initiative and the safety of beneficiaries who speak out.
Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Friday, August 15, 2025, Kamau explained that he has been receiving strange and threatening phone calls linked to the motorbike issue.
He revealed that unknown people had been pressuring him to record a video to mislead the public into believing that he had received the promised bike.
“They have been calling me from private numbers, telling me to either record a video saying I received the motorbike or claim I never went to State House. I refused,” Kamau said.
He further recounted how the event unfolded. Kamau explained that he and other young people were taken to State House, where they were photographed standing next to motorbikes.
However, after the photos were taken, things changed drastically.
“Nikaambiwa nitoke nje ya Gate D. Hapo nikakutana na walinzi wa GSU wakaniambia nimeshatoa taarifa zangu, niende nyumbani.” He added that when he asked how the motorbike would reach him, the response he got left him unsettled.
“Nikawauliza watajuaje nyumbani kwangu? Wakasema watatumia Truecaller. Nilipouliza zaidi, wakanifukuza.”Kamau is not the only one affected by this situation.
In a viral video, other young people from Jacaranda in Embakasi also narrated how they left the programme empty-handed despite earlier promises.
One of them, identified as Otwala, explained their disappointment. “Sisi tulikuwa 50, tukateuliwa 10. Proposal yetu ilikuwa kupata vifaa vya media, lakini tukaambiwa twende nyumbani.
Hata wale wa boda hawakupata. Ndiyo tukasema hatutanyamaza,” he said. According to them, a follow-up event at Jacaranda was staged to cover up the mess, where some items were displayed only for the cameras without genuine distribution taking place.
Kamau has remained firm despite the threats, insisting that he will not lie to protect those behind the scheme.
His bold statement was clear. “Mimi niko tayari waniuue, lakini sitakubali kudanganya. Hawakunipea pikipiki. Na kama wanataka kuniua, waniue.”
In response to the growing backlash, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi attempted to explain the delays, pointing to ownership paperwork as the main issue causing setbacks.
However, this explanation has done little to calm the angry youth who continue to demand answers.
The empowerment programme had been organised by President Ruto as a way of uplifting young people with tools such as motorbikes and equipment to improve their livelihoods.
Yet, the unfolding events have painted a picture of unfulfilled promises, intimidation, and lack of transparency.
For many of the young people involved, the only thing they have received so far is frustration and fear instead of the opportunities they were promised.
