DCI have arrested a suspect linked to a series of criminal activities in Nairobi’s Eastlands area and nearby neighborhoods, following an intelligence-led operation.
Rodgers Omondi Odhiambo, the suspect, was apprehended at his hideaway in the Kayole dumpsite area after police acted on tips from local residents.
Investigators noted that operation was meticulously planned and carried out, allowing law enforcement to approach the suspect without any confrontation.
Following his arrest, Odhiambo guided detectives to his home, where a search revealed various items believed to belong to the government.
The recovered items included a round of 9mm ammunition, military shirts, a smoke jacket, trousers, a military short, two sets of military working attire, a green military bag, and a military jackknife.
Authorities expressed concern regarding how the suspect acquired these items and whether they are connected to prior thefts or the misuse of official property.
The suspect was subsequently brought before the Milimani Law Courts, where he faced allegations of possessing ammunition and government goods without proper authorization.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted a bond of Sh1 million, or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000 as he awaits further proceedings.
A mention of the case is set for June 2, 2026. Security agencies commended the public for providing information that led to the arrest, and they emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation in the fight against crime.
Authorities also urged citizens to report any suspicious activities through official channels, including the DCI hotline and anonymous reporting platforms, while investigations into the situation continue in Nairobi.
