New information about the death of Toto Touch CEO Susan Kamengere Njoki has left many Kenyans in shock, raising questions about the events leading up to her final moments.
According to six pathologists who spoke on July 22, Njoki died from manual strangulation caused by severe pressure to the neck. This pressure blocked oxygen from reaching her blood, which led to her death.
The post-mortem also revealed undigested food in her stomach, meaning she died not long after eating.
The pathologists believe this confirms she died just a few hours after being injected and forcefully removed from her home in Kileleshwa.
Before her death, Njoki recorded an audio message that has since become key to the investigation. In the recording, she explained how two men stormed into her home and held her down while two nurses gave her an injection. She claimed the entire act was done under instructions from her husband.
After being injected, Njoki was dragged out of the house and taken to Chiromo Hospital. It was at this hospital that her tragic end took place.
This new information challenges earlier statements made by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which had said Njoki died while being moved to the hospital.
However, the latest findings from medical experts clearly state she died inside Chiromo Hospital. Witnesses say Njoki appeared scared and confused, repeatedly asking where she was being taken.
No one gave her a clear answer, and shortly after, she lost her life.The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has now taken action following public anger over the case.
The council ordered the closure of Chiromo Hospital’s Braeside branch with immediate effect. They also instructed the hospital to evacuate all patients within 24 hours.
In addition, the hospital has been asked to hand over all of Njoki’s medical records and the full post-mortem report to help in the ongoing investigation.
This case continues to attract attention from across the country as many people demand justice for Njoki.
