Eric Mboya has exposed a shocking case of brutality involving a Super Metro bus, registration number KDL 125N. He shared on his Facebook handle how a disagreement over fare turned into a horrific act that claimed the life of an innocent passenger.
This incident has shed light on the dark reality behind a company that has long been praised for professionalism.
Yesterday, Gilbert Thuo Kimani, a middle-aged man from Kandara, Murang’a County, boarded the Super Metro bus, hoping to get home after a long day of hustling.
When the bus reached Kahawa Wendani, the tout demanded Ksh 80 as fare. Gilbert had only Ksh 50 and explained that he had not heard the fare announcement.

Instead of handling the matter with decency, the tout turned aggressive, verbally abusing Gilbert and accusing him of being a nuisance.
What followed was an act of pure cruelty. While the bus was still in motion, the tout allegedly opened the door and threw Gilbert out.
The impact was fatal. His body hit the ground violently, and by the time people rushed to his aid, it was too late. The postmortem report later confirmed that he had broken all his ribs, hands, and legs, leading to his immediate death.
His only fault was lacking an extra Ksh 30.Super Metro has built a name as one of the most organized transport companies, but this incident has exposed a serious failure. Allowing such reckless touts to operate under their name shows negligence.
If one of their employees can casually end a passenger’s life over fare, then it raises concerns about the kind of people the company entrusts with passengers’ safety.
Cases of harassment, mistreatment, and arrogance by some touts have been reported before, but this has now escalated to murder. There is no excuse for such an act, and the authorities must act swiftly. The tout responsible for this crime must be arrested and charged accordingly. Super Metro cannot walk away from this without accountability.

They must take responsibility for employing individuals who have no regard for human life. The family of Gilbert Thuo Kimani deserves justice, and the public must not allow this case to be ignored. If incidents like this go unpunished, more innocent lives will be lost to reckless matatu operators.
This case must serve as a wake-up call, not just to Super Metro but to the entire transport sector. The law must take its course, and strict action must be taken to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
