Senator Ledama Ole Kina has proclaimed his plan to mobilize at least 1.4 million Maasai voters in support of President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The senator added that if all Maasai voters banded together, the community could easily give more than 1.4 million votes to the two leaders.Ole Kina spoke during a church service in Narok attended by President Ruto on Sunday.
He stated that he sees a huge chance for the Maasai community to rally behind the Ruto-Raila coalition as a means of gaining better access to national resources. According to him, a united political front will increase the community’s bargaining power and ensure that the Maasai region receives long-overdue development and resources.
“I have seen a pathway where all Maasais should pass so that we get an equitable allocation of resources,” he stated.“If we stand here as the Maasai community across the country, our votes would not be less than 1.4 million.”
He also questioned Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s claims of political strength based on 1.4 million Kamba votes, claiming that the Maasai vote would effectively balance them.
“Mnaona vile Kalonzo anakimbia kimbia huko anasema Wakamba wake 1.4 million, na sisi Wamaasai tutaenda mpaka Marsabit, Kajiado na tutakuwa na hiyo 1.4 million na tutasupport William Ruto na Raila Amollo Odinga,” he said.
The senator praised the two leaders for deciding to collaborate following the formation of the broad-based government.Ole Kina stated that their cooperation represents a promise for inclusive development and national cohesion.
He further stated that the Maasai community will solidly support the President and that no Maasai would oppose the administration.
Senator Ledama condemned tribal politics, stating that they are unproductive and do little to advance the interests of ordinary citizens. He emphasized the need for unity and issue-based leadership over ethnic divisions.
He further called on the state to support the community by improving access to essential services such as roads and water, noting that these remain significant challenges for residents in Narok.
