Lawyer Danstan Omari has taken legal steps against media personality Oga Obinna over claims he says were defamatory and damaging to his professional reputation.
Through his legal team, Omari has formally demanded a public apology and the immediate removal of a podcast episode aired on OBINNA TV that featured political commentator Adrian Oluoch.
The demand gives Obinna 12 hours to comply, failure to which legal action will be taken. The dispute arises from a live podcast episode aired on December 15, 2025.
During the discussion, Oluoch allegedly made serious claims suggesting that Omari engages in corrupt practices to influence judicial officers.
One of the remarks highlighted in the demand letter stated that the legal system is very corrupt and that someone like Danstan Omari knows who to bribe.
Omari strongly denies these claims and says they are false, reckless, and meant to destroy his name.
The demand letter was issued by Omari’s legal team led by advocate Shadrack Wambui. In the letter, the lawyers argue that Obinna, as the host of the show, failed in his duty to act responsibly.
They state that Obinna did not challenge, correct, or stop his guest from making the alleged defamatory remarks despite clearly understanding their harmful nature.
According to the letter, Obinna’s experience as a media host means he should have foreseen the impact of allowing such statements to go unchallenged on a live platform.
Omari claims the podcast was broadcast live and later shared across several social media platforms, including X, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
He says this wide circulation has caused serious and lasting damage to his reputation as a lawyer. His legal team argues that once such statements are released online, they spread fast and are difficult to fully correct, making the harm even greater.
The letter further outlines Omari’s professional background, noting that he has spent over ten years building his career. He has served as a children’s officer, a law lecturer, the managing partner of a respected law firm, and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Wambui describes Omari as a role model and a disciplined legal professional who is in good standing with the Law Society and the public. The lawyers argue that the allegations undermine public trust in his work and question his integrity without any evidence.
The demand letter calls for two main actions within 12 hours. First, the immediate removal of the podcast episode from all platforms where it was shared.
Second, a clear and public apology from Obinna addressing the false statements and distancing himself from them.
If these demands are not met within the given time, Omari says he will proceed to court and seek damages, with all costs to be met by Obinna.
This is not the first time Obinna has been involved in a defamation case. In the past, he successfully won KSh 6 million in a lawsuit against socialite Maureen Imbayi, also known as Black Cinderella, and Radio Africa Group presenter Massawe Japanni over unverified claims aired in 2024.
Omari’s legal team insists that quick action is necessary now to stop further harm and protect the lawyer’s name from ongoing damage.
