Kenya Moja Alliance shakes up 2027 race as Ruto faces new political threat

A new political group called Kenya Moja is quickly becoming popular across the country.

This movement is shaping up to be a serious threat to President William Ruto and the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the country heads toward the 2027 general elections.

The alliance is being led by a group of energetic and bold leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba.

They are bringing people together with a message of unity, fairness in governance, and a focus on giving the younger generation a chance to lead.

Kenya Moja wants to move away from the usual politics based on tribe and instead push for a more modern and inclusive leadership. They say the Kenya Kwanza government has failed and that it is time for new ideas and leaders who care about all Kenyans, not just a few.

This message has caught the attention of many people, especially in towns and cities where young people are feeling the pressure of joblessness, a tough economy, and leaders who seem to care more about power than solving real problems.

Analysts are saying that Kenya Moja might break the usual voting patterns, especially in areas where people are tired of being divided along tribal lines. Many young people, who make up a big part of the population, feel left out and believe that the promises made by the current government were empty.

The growing gap between the rich and poor is also fueling anger, and Kenya Moja is tapping into that frustration.

Their timing could not be better. President Ruto’s leadership is facing problems from within, especially after Rigathi Gachagua was removed from office in October 2024.

Gachagua has since started his own party called Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP). Some people believe that Ruto and Gachagua might work things out and come together again to secure the Mount Kenya vote, but others think the political climate has changed too much for that to happen.

Kenya Moja is planning a major launch later this year and is already recruiting members across the country. There are also discussions with seasoned opposition leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua to create a stronger team that can compete with Kenya Kwanza in the next election.

With the 2027 polls coming closer, it looks like Kenya’s political scene could see major changes, and Kenya Moja is right at the center of that shift.
