Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has come out with serious claims about the death of General Francis Ogolla, the former Chief of Defence Forces. According to a report by Tuko, Kalonzo believes that Ogolla did not die in a helicopter crash, as the government has claimed, but that he was actually assassinated.
Speaking during a rally in Mwingi Town, Kitui County, on Sunday, April 13, Kalonzo said the explanation given by the Ministry of Defence about engine failure does not make sense to him or to many Kenyans.
He said it was clear to him that Ogolla was eliminated because of his involvement in the events surrounding the 2022 General Election.Kalonzo said that General Ogolla had been sent to Bomas of Kenya by the National Security Council during the vote tallying process.

According to Kalonzo, some powerful individuals were unhappy with his presence there. He claimed that Ogolla had received threats and that he was a marked man long before the crash. Kalonzo even went as far as saying that it was obvious Ogolla was going to become the next top military boss, which made him a threat to certain people in power.
He strongly rejected the government’s narrative, saying, “There was no way General Ogolla was not going to be the next military boss. That is why he was taken out. No Kenyan believes the engine failure story. He was taken out!”
The Wiper party leader also criticized the investigation report from the Ministry of Defence, saying it lacked detail and failed to convince the public. He said the country needs an independent investigation, preferably led by Parliament, to find out what really happened.
Kalonzo added that Kenya has witnessed too many mysterious helicopter crashes involving top officials and that this pattern cannot be ignored any longer. The official report, released on Friday, April 12, claimed that the Bell Huey helicopter, registration KAF 1501, developed engine issues midair while flying in Elgeyo Marakwet.
However, Kalonzo and others are not convinced. Veteran lawyer Paul Muite also questioned the report’s findings. He pointed out that the report was too vague and lacked enough technical information to help the public understand the real cause of the crash.
Muite argued that the investigation team failed to properly determine whether the mechanical issue was accidental or if someone had a hand in it.General Ogolla’s death came as a shock to many Kenyans, and the public continues to mourn while seeking answers. With both political and legal voices now casting doubt on the official explanation, pressure is growing on the government to open up the investigation.
Kalonzo warned that unless the truth comes out through a credible and open process, the public will continue to believe that Ogolla’s death was not an accident but an assassination.
