Former Standard Group journalist Ken Mijungu has alleged that Standard Media owes its employees unpaid wages.
In a post on social media platforms, Mijungu said this allegedly led to his colleagues battling stress, while others separated from their partners.
He has asked Standard Media to pay its journalists, while at the same time asking the government to pay the media house the money it owes.
Reacting to the exchange between President Ruto and Standard Media, the journalist said it has nothing to do with the online fight between the President and his friend Gideon Moi.
He added, “The truth is that, as employees of Standard Group, journalists have endured years of delayed and unpaid salaries.
Employees remain unpaid to date, and the company owes them millions. People have lost assets, while others have fallen ill.
Some colleagues even lost their partners, who did not understand their predicament.
Families have been torn apart, and health issues have worsened. Standard Group needs to pay what it owes its former and current employees. The government also needs to pay what it genuinely owes Standard Group,” Ken Mijungu said.
