Jayne Kihara dares State to jail her, says speaking the truth Is her only crime

Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara has sent a strong warning to President William Ruto, urging him to be cautious about his close ties with Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah.

Speaking outside the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, July 18, after being granted a personal bond of Ksh50,000, Kihara did not hold back.

She openly blamed Ichung’wah for misleading the president and causing suffering to ordinary Kenyans. In her own words, she told the president that with Ichung’wah by his side, he needs no other enemy.

She accused the Kikuyu MP of insulting her and disrespecting her during a disagreement, claiming he even told her to act her age.

Jayne Kihara had been arrested on Thursday evening by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations after allegedly failing to honour a summons linked to charges of incitement.

She was picked up from her home, where the DCI officers are said to have stormed in forcefully.

The charges stem from remarks she made during a public gathering in Nairobi on July 8, where she claimed that NYS buses had ferried goons to Naivasha who later raided the area during the protests.

In the same statement, she also warned President Ruto against attacking the youth, suggesting that such moves would only increase public anger.

Despite the arrest and night in police custody, Kihara remained defiant. She told reporters that nothing would stop her from continuing her fight for the people of Kenya.

She expressed her willingness to suffer and even spend time in jail if that’s what it takes to speak the truth. She declared that no intimidation would silence her, stating that this arrest marked the peak of her political journey.

For the first time in her life, she had been booked in a police cell, and instead of being shaken, she claimed it had made her stronger.

The court session on Friday did not proceed to the plea stage because the judge is yet to determine whether the charges filed against her are legally valid.

The court is expected to make that decision during the mention set for Tuesday, July 29.

According to her lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, the charges against Kihara claim she made inciteful remarks that could have led to a breach of peace.

But Kihara insists that what she said was simply the truth and that the people of Naivasha deserve to know what is happening in their constituency.

She believes that her arrest was politically motivated and aimed at silencing leaders who question the government.

For now, she is out on bond, but her message remains unchanged she will keep fighting, and no amount of pressure will shut her up.
