Fred Matiangi speak after Kikuyu chaos, raises alarm over political violence and intimidation claims

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has broken his silence following chaotic scenes in Kikuyu town where a United Alternative Government rally was disrupted, triggering political tension and concern over rising cases of political intolerance in the region this afternoon.

He said the incident undermines democratic values and the right of citizens to assemble peacefully, insisting that no political formation should be denied space to communicate its agenda to supporters without fear intimidation or disruption by any actors whatsoever again.

He further assured supporters that all principals of the United Alternative Government are safe and accounted for after the Kikuyu incident adding that leadership consultations were immediately held to assess the situation and determine next steps forward politically going ahead.

He strongly condemned what he termed as an act of political repression warning that such incidents risk deepening divisions and undermining national cohesion at a time when the country is preparing for heightened political activity ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.

The former CS maintained that the movement remains committed to its agenda despite the disruption saying they will not be intimidated into silence and will continue engaging citizens across the country through peaceful political mobilisation and dialogue going forward strongly.

In his statement he emphasized that the struggle for what he called restoration of dignity freedom and accountable leadership in Kenya remains alive urging supporters to stay focused and peaceful despite mounting political pressures across the nation moving ahead.

He concluded by reaffirming the message Let’s Fix It which he said symbolizes a call for reform unity and renewed commitment to addressing governance challenges facing the country at this time in a strong national political statement.

Political observers say the incident in Kikuyu reflects growing tensions on the political scene with leaders increasingly accusing each other of intimidation tactics as the country inches closer to a highly contested election period across major political formations today.

Security agencies have not issued an official detailed statement on the incident though investigations are expected to establish what triggered the disruption and whether any arrests or injuries were recorded during the heated political gathering in Kikuyu town area.

Meanwhile the political formation says it will continue with its national outreach programme undeterred promising more engagements with citizens in coming days despite what it describes as attempts to frustrate its activities on the ground moving forward across Kenya
