Fifth Estate report unmasks Tunai’s dirty dealings with donor money

Former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai has been exposed by international journalists for stealing money from non-governmental organizations that were funding development projects in Narok County. These NGOs had partnered with the local government to help improve the lives of residents through better roads, water access, health facilities, and education programs.

Instead of supporting these important projects, Tunai allegedly diverted the money for his own personal interests. The scandal has shocked many people, especially because these funds were meant to support some of the most vulnerable communities in the region.

In a video report by The Fifth Estate on YouTube, journalists revealed how they followed the money trail and discovered large amounts of cash had vanished without proper explanation. The report exposed how projects that were fully funded on paper were either abandoned or never even started.

What shocked viewers even more was the claim that at some point, the former governor tried to bribe the journalists so that they would not release the report. This attempted cover-up has made people question just how deep the corruption went and how many other secrets remain hidden.

Under Tunai’s leadership, Narok County was supposed to benefit from millions of shillings channeled through both government and NGO programs. But instead of progress, residents were left with ghost projects, half-built roads, and incomplete schools.

In places like Transmara, where locals hoped for clean water systems, all they got were empty promises and broken pipes. These are not just statistics they represent real people who continue to suffer because of greedy leadership. It is a betrayal to the communities that trusted him with their future.

Many locals have long suspected that Tunai was not being honest during his time in office, but now the evidence seems clearer than ever. The international attention brought by this report has also placed pressure on authorities to take action.

People are demanding justice and calling on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to reopen investigations into how public money was handled under Tunai’s rule.

There is growing anger that he has continued to live comfortably while the people of Narok struggle with poor services and underdevelopment. This case is a painful reminder of how corruption robs communities of opportunities. When leaders like Tunai misuse funds meant to uplift the people, they destroy trust and keep entire regions in poverty.

There must be consequences for such actions. The government cannot allow people like him to walk free after such serious allegations. The people of Narok deserved answers, and they deserve justice. Tunai must be held accountable for the damage he has caused.
