DCI arrests notorious suspect David Juma Mweru in Mtwapa security operation

Security officers have stepped up their efforts in the Coast region as part of a wider operation aimed at reducing crime and restoring public safety.

In recent weeks, the crackdown has led to several arrests, showing clear progress in the fight against organized criminal gangs that have been troubling residents.

The latest development involves the arrest of David Juma Mweru in Mtwapa, Kilifi County. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations tracked down the suspect after receiving credible intelligence about his movements.

He had been on the radar of security agencies for some time due to his alleged involvement in a series of robbery incidents in the area.

According to investigators, Mweru had managed to avoid arrest on several occasions by frequently changing his hiding places.

Officers said he moved carefully and avoided staying in one location for long, making it difficult for authorities to pin him down.

However, coordinated surveillance and information sharing finally led to his capture.

Police officers carried out the arrest without any reported injuries or resistance.

After taking him into custody, detectives conducted a detailed search at his residence. During the search, they recovered five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition wrapped in a yellow carrier bag.

Authorities believe the ammunition could have been intended for criminal use, and this discovery has raised further concerns about possible links to other suspects.

The suspect is currently being held as investigations continue. Detectives are working to determine whether he acted alone or was part of a larger network operating within Mtwapa and nearby towns.

They are also reviewing past robbery cases to see if there is direct evidence connecting him to specific incidents.

Security officials have assured residents that the ongoing operation will continue until those responsible for criminal activities are brought to justice.

They have encouraged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information that could help prevent crime.

The recent arrest is seen as part of a broader strategy to improve safety in the Coast region.

Authorities maintain that no individual involved in criminal activity will be allowed to operate freely, and they remain committed to protecting lives and property across the country.
