Cleophas Malala reveals reason behind his dismissal from UDA

Cleophas Malala, the former Kakamega senator, has finally opened up about why he was removed from his position as Secretary General of the United Democratic Alliance. Speaking during an interview on Spice FM, Malala said that the real reason behind his dismissal was a disagreement with President William Ruto.

He explained that the fallout began when he refused to sign off on the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Malala said he strongly believed that removing Gachagua would shake the foundation of the Kenya Kwanza government and cause unnecessary instability.

Malala revealed that President Ruto had already started a plan to frustrate Gachagua by proposing changes to the party’s top leadership. One of the ideas included appointing two deputy party leaders, which according to Malala, was meant to reduce Gachagua’s influence.

Malala said he warned the president that this move would not only divide the party but also cause confusion and weaken its structure. But despite the warning, Ruto went ahead with his decision and turned against him. Malala shared that after giving his honest opinion, he was branded a traitor and was eventually removed from his position.

He made it clear that his refusal to approve Gachagua’s impeachment came from a place of loyalty to the party and concern for its future. Malala said he was not willing to be part of a plan that could damage the government’s unity and trust among its leaders. He also added that those who pushed for his removal saw him as a mole just because he stood against what he believed was a dangerous path.

Malala felt betrayed and silenced for simply giving honest advice at a critical moment.Besides party issues, Malala also criticized President Ruto’s recent decision involving Butere Girls High School. The students had presented a stage play titled “Echoes of War,” which was later barred from advancing to the national level.

According to Malala, the president personally gave the order to stop the play. He accused Ruto of acting out of fear and paranoia, saying the head of state is now too worried about his image and critics. Malala stated that the president’s remarks about the play did not match the actual content, which had no references to paedophilia or drug use as claimed.

Instead, Malala believes the move was just another attempt by the regime to silence voices that reflect the truth about the country’s direction.
