Chibeka Matara takes lead in latest Mwelekeo Insights youth leaders poll as Abbie Zuena and Angel Mbuthia complete top three rankings

Mwelekeo Insights has released the final findings of its Political Parties Youth Leaders Popularity Survey, highlighting how young leaders are performing in terms of public support across Kenya.

The national survey focused on the percentage share of support received by each leader, giving a clear picture of the current popularity rankings among youth leaders from different political parties.

The results show a significant gap between the leading candidates and those further down the rankings, with a few individuals commanding a larger share of public support compared to others.

Chibeka Matara Leads as Top Youth Leader in Survey

Chibeka Matara of KANU emerged as the most popular youth leader in the survey after receiving 43.4 percent support. Her performance placed her ahead of all other candidates, with the findings showing that she enjoys the strongest backing among respondents who participated in the national poll.

Coming in second was Abbie Zuena of Linda Mwananchi, who secured 32.9 percent support.

The two leading candidates dominated the rankings, accounting for a combined 76.3 percent of the total support.

This shows that public preference was largely concentrated around the two top performers.

The results indicate that Matara and Zuena have established themselves as the most recognised figures among the youth leaders included in the survey, with a significant gap separating them from the other candidates.

Other Leaders Record Notable Support

Jubilee’s Angel Mbuthia ranked third with 8.9 percent support, placing her behind the two leading candidates but ahead of the remaining contenders. DCP’s Wanjiku Thiga followed with 7.4 percent, while Julius Umoja of Wiper received 5.9 percent.

The three leaders recorded a smaller share of support compared to the top two candidates but still maintained a visible presence in the rankings.

Their results show that they continue to attract attention among voters interested in youth representation within political parties.

At the lower end of the rankings, Kariuki Ngunjiri of UDA received 1.1 percent support, while John Ketorah of ODM recorded 0.4 percent. The figures show a considerable difference between the leading candidates and those who received limited support in the survey.

Survey Shows Clear Public Preference Among Youth Leaders

The percentages from the Mwelekeo Insights survey reveal a strong concentration of support among a few candidates. Chibeka Matara’s 43.4 percent means she alone attracted support from nearly half of the respondents, while Abbie Zuena’s 32.9 percent placed her as the only other candidate with a share above 30 percent.

Beyond the top two leaders, none of the other candidates managed to reach double-digit support.

The findings suggest that while several youth leaders are competing for recognition within their political parties, only a small number have gained significant national visibility.

The survey focused on measuring popularity levels among youth leaders across different political parties, providing insights into how Kenyans currently view emerging political figures.
