Edgar Charles Frederick, a 79-year-old British philanthropist, lost his life in a tragic accident involving President William Ruto’s motorcade.
The incident happened on Thursday near Adams Arcade along Ngong Road as Ruto’s convoy made its way to a public event in Kibra.
An autopsy has now revealed shocking details, suggesting that Edgar may have been run over multiple times by vehicles in the convoy.
The post-mortem, conducted by pathologist Daniel Zuriel, showed that Edgar suffered multiple fractures and severe trauma to his chest and head.
His injuries were particularly concentrated on the left side of his body. Zuriel noted that his head and chest were completely crushed, along with broken ribs and a fractured hip.
He further explained that the injuries indicate Edgar may have been hit once and then run over by other vehicles following behind.
Edgar had come to Kenya to visit his sister and nephew. Witnesses say he was crossing the road at the time of the accident, possibly heading to a mosque for prayers.
Some reports suggest he may have had a hearing impairment, which could have contributed to his failure to notice the oncoming convoy. Unfortunately, he was unable to escape the speeding vehicles, leading to his gruesome death.

Following the accident, police arrested the driver of the government vehicle believed to have struck Edgar first. The driver is attached to the Nairobi Regional Coordinator’s office.
However, he was later released on cash bail as investigations continue. Authorities have since informed Edgar’s family about the incident, and the British High Commission in Nairobi has been engaged in handling the matter.
His body is expected to be transported back to the United Kingdom for burial. The tragedy has sparked concerns about the safety of pedestrians, particularly in areas where high-speed government convoys frequently pass.
Many Kenyans are questioning whether proper precautions were taken to prevent such an accident. The lack of accountability in cases involving government vehicles has also drawn criticism.
Eyewitnesses argue that the speed at which Ruto’s motorcade moves through the city is a disaster waiting to happen. This case has added to the growing concerns that government convoys disregard traffic rules, often putting the lives of pedestrians at risk.
It remains unclear whether any senior officials will be held responsible for the accident, or if the blame will fall solely on the driver who was arrested.
Police Spokesperson Michael Muchiri has confirmed that investigations are ongoing. However, critics doubt whether justice will be served, given past cases where government convoys were involved in fatal accidents but no serious action was taken.
The public is now waiting to see if this case will be handled differently or if it will fade away like many others.
