A recent poll by Mizani Africa has offered a revealing glimpse into the political preferences of Nairobi County residents, and the results highlight the growing influence of the Kenya Patriots Party (KPP).
According to the Mizani ranking, KPP is not just a minor player but one of the most popular political parties in the capital city, standing out among a crowded field of established political outfits.
The data shows KPP with a significant 3.4% support base, placing it among the top parties in Nairobi.
It trails behind the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), which recorded 25.1% and 21.6%, respectively.
Notably, KPP has comfortably surpassed the Jubilee party, which was among the top tier in this ranking.
This ranking indicates a realignment in the city’s political landscape, with a growing number of Nairobians appearing to turn towards a party that champions a new direction.

The driving force behind KPP’s surge is its party leader, Agnes Kagure.
A prominent businesswoman and philanthropist, Kagure is no stranger to the city’s political scene, having previously vied for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat and still vying for the Nairobi governorship come 2027.
She has been actively positioning her party as a viable and organized alternative to the traditional political giants.
Kagure is building her party’s platform on a vision of good governance and improved service delivery for the city’s residents, focusing on issues like reliable healthcare, efficient transport systems, and clean streets.
Her political message often stresses the need for leaders who work for the people around the clock, a direct call for accountability and responsiveness from the county government.
Kagure’s influence is being felt beyond just opinion polls, as demonstrated by her party’s energetic campaigns in local by-elections.
In the lead-up to the Kariobangi North Ward by-election, for instance, KPP launched a vigorous campaign, with Kagure personally rallying support for the party’s candidate.
Her leadership style is described by many as embodying servant leadership, focusing on community empowerment and mentoring young, credible leaders to take up political roles.
This hands-on approach, combined with her message of transparency and her party’s democratic ideals, is clearly resonating with voters who are seeking a change from the status quo.
With ODM and DCP leading the pack but KPP making significant inroads, the political battle for Nairobi is becoming increasingly competitive, and Kagure’s party is proving that it is a force to be reckoned with in the lead-up to future elections.
