Yoweri Museveni issues a statement over concerns on Besigye’s health condition

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has spoken about the concerns raised by Ugandans regarding the detention of opposition politician Dr. Kizza Besigye.

Many people have been questioning the government about why he was arrested and whether he is receiving proper medical care in prison.

Museveni responded by assuring the public that Besigye is being treated well and that there is a government hospital inside the prison where he is being held. He also mentioned that Besigye’s personal doctors have been allowed to visit him and even take him to private clinics if needed.

Museveni emphasized that if any additional medical care was required, the government would be informed, and necessary action would be taken to ensure he receives treatment.

Museveni further claimed that Besigye was using his detention to gain sympathy from the public. He suggested that the opposition leader wanted people to feel sorry for him so that he could be granted bail.

According to Museveni, this was a common tactic used by politicians to avoid facing justice. He pointed out that Besigye had gone on a hunger strike, which made his health condition look worse in the media.

The president questioned whether this was not a form of manipulation, asking how someone accused of serious crimes could simply refuse to eat and expect to be released.

He said this strategy was aimed at forcing the government to bow to pressure and set Besigye free without facing trial. Museveni explained that Besigye was arrested not only for his past actions but also for things he was planning to do.

He argued that the opposition leader had intentions that could disrupt peace in the country, and the government had to act before any harm was done.

Museveni advised that instead of trying to gain public sympathy, Besigye should request a speedy trial so that the case could be determined without unnecessary delays.

The arrest of Besigye has once again brought attention to Uganda’s political situation, with both Ugandans and Kenyans closely following the developments.

Some people believe the government is being unfair by detaining opposition leaders, while others think that the law should take its course regardless of political affiliation.

The issue has sparked debates about democracy and human rights in Uganda, with different opinions on whether Museveni’s government is justified in its actions. For now, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold and whether Besigye will be granted bail or remain in custody until his case is concluded.
