Youtuber Mr. Beast launches multi-million project in Narok as Kenyans troll politicians

Kenyans on social media are actively teasing politicians after popular YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, also known as Mr Beast, brought his team to Kenya for his latest project.

Known for his generosity and unique challenges on YouTube, Mr Beast released a video titled Watch This Video To Feed One Person in Need, which follows his tradition of combining humanitarian acts with content creation.

With 384 million subscribers, his videos often reach millions of viewers, and this time, each view was tied to feeding a person in need. The video began with Mr Beast and his crew visiting a school in Kenya.

He promised that watching the video would help supply farmland, build kitchens, and support schools with food, while also helping children stay out of child labour.

He then joined local cooks and teachers to prepare meals such as porridge and githeri for over 500 students. The school feeding program, according to Mr Beast, would continue to provide breakfast and lunch every day as long as people kept watching the video.

He emphasized that the more views the video gets, the longer the program would run.His efforts had a visible impact almost immediately, as school attendance began to rise.

This led to more improvements, including the delivery of new desks. Previously, students had to sit on the floor or squeeze four people onto desks made for two. A truck brought in new desks and was met with cheers from the students.

Mr Beast didn’t stop there. He also funded the construction of a bigger kitchen to support the daily meal plan. A well and water storage tank were dug to provide clean water.

A greenhouse and farm were added to help the school grow its own food. To improve the farming system, Mr Beast bought a tractor for local farms and a truck for the school to transport supplies efficiently. In total, Mr Beast left the school with food that could provide up to 100,000 meals.

He also partnered with nearby farms to split production between schools and the community, ensuring a more sustainable food supply.Kenyans quickly turned to social media to express both admiration and frustration.

Many praised Mr Beast for doing what local leaders have failed to do for decades. “Mr. Beast has done what the KK government could not achieve in 30 years,” one person posted.

Others criticized the presence of local leaders like the MCA, MP, Senator, and Governor, wondering why it took a foreign YouTuber to bring such change.

There were even sarcastic remarks suggesting that some politicians might now try to claim credit or plan to launch the projects themselves, as they have done in the past.

Some users referenced the controversial incident where the Turkana county government demolished a classroom built by comedian Eric Omondi, warning that similar resentment might follow Mr Beast’s work.

One comment read, “You will find an MP or MCA angry that Mr Beast brought donations to their area.” The general feeling was that it took an outsider to finally show what true service to the people should look like, and many used this moment to call out the lack of action from their own elected officials.
