Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Reveals Why They Don’t Speak Of Azimio Anymore

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has explained why the remaining parties in the Azimio alliance no longer identify with the outfit.

According to Kalonzo, they have been careful not to use the name since groups inside it, such as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), have decided to focus on strengthening themselves following Raila Odinga’s collaboration with President William Ruto.

He stated that Azimio will publish a statement in the new year confirming their stance as the opposition party.

“We are very careful not to use Azimio because I noticed that ODM has not been talking about Azimio themselves,” Kalonzo said on KTN.

“They are trying to strengthen their position, and now that they are one leg in government, they are a bit convoluted, and I can understand, but the year and days lying ahead,”

“We will make it clear that we are the opposition, and we will hold William Ruto’s administration to full account, and we will be making a statement to give that sense of direction,” he added.

The Wiper leader stated that those who remain in the Azimio alliance, including himself, will continue to support Kenyans in their desire for better governance.

“Those of us still remaining in Azimio believe that we will continue to be on the people’s side, and that’s why we have said that we are the people’s loyal opposition.”

Kalonzo stated that coalition leaders will decide whether or not the outfit will continue to exist.

He stated that he has yet to get information from Azimio Coalition chairman and former President Uhuru Kenyatta or Azimio party leader Raila Odinga regarding their departure from the coalition.

“Whether Azimio will remain is a matter that the principals will have to agree.”

This comes a few weeks after President William Ruto met with Uhuru at his Ichaweri house and appointed some of his allies to crucial government positions.Kalonzo has often stated that he will not work with Ruto.
