Rubadiri is a presenter with Citizen TV in Kenya, where she hosts the channel’s prime-time shows. 

On Sunday night, she and her news co-host Jeff Koinange announced that she would be away until December. 

“We are going to miss you,” said Koinange as she presented Vicky with a farewell cake.

She is expected to undergo a sponsored three-month training that will impart in her essential journalistic skills for both radio, TV, and online media Judges of the award revealed that they found Rubadiri as the candidate of choice due to her passion for sharing African stories. 

In September 2020, sassy Citizen TV presenter Victoria Rubadiri won the BBC World News Komla Dumor award.  

It is an award that exists in honor of Komla Dumor, who worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation but died in 2014 aged 41.  

According to the judges, Rubadiri’s eloquence and passion for sharing captivating African stories both at her workplace and on social media won their hearts. Rubadiri is the sixth winner since inception and the second Kenyan to bag the award.  

Other winners include Didi Akinyelure, Nancy Kacungira, Solomon Serwanjja, Amina Yuguda, and Kenya’s Waihiga Mwaura.
