“Coronavirus may become another endemic virus in our communities. And this virus may never go away.” Head of World Health Organization emergencies program, Dr Mike Ryan, said on Wednesday.

He further warned that “the world has a long, long way to go to bring the coronavirus pandemic under control, despite tentative steps in many countries to begin restarting normal life”

“There is some magical thinking going on that lockdowns work perfectly and that unlocking lockdowns will go great. Both are fraught with dangers,” Ryan warned.

Countries are now working on ways to live with the new normal after over 4 million people have been infected by the Coronavirus and over 290, 000 deaths witnessed globally.

Kenya is one such country which is keen on reopening the economy. This will be done in phases.

Education ministry appointed officials to help see into better ways of resuming the school programmes.

The same is happening in the hospitality sector where tourism is yet to resume.

Other players include the airport authorities that are considering on better ways to resume business.

Restaurants and hotels are already back to their normal operations.
