Kenyan football fans are having concerns about the expenditure of the over 150 million Covid-19 relief funds disbursed by FIFA disbursed to Football Kenya Federation?

The funds were expected to help in testing players and staff to enhance safety during this pandemic period.

Further, the funds were to be used for grassroots football and other football-related expenses.                                                                                                                                                                                                However, only the Top tier has tested their players while the National Super League and the Division 1 and 2 players have resumed playing without being tested.

Is a health crisis looming in the Kenyan lower tier teams due to lack of testing?

The federation through their CEO Barry Otieno, claims the money disbursed by FIFA was used to pay Algerian coach Adel Amrouche .

The coach had sued the federation for dismissal.

FKF president Nick Mwendwa is said to have been standing between a rock and a hard place when he made that decision to pay coach Amrouche’s arrears to avoid penalties and a ban from FIFA.

But now what remains to be answered is Was the money specifically disbursed for Covid-19 mitigation and if so why was it used for other obligations?

More so, the Covid -19 money is said to be more than the compensation amount for coach Adel Amrouche?

So where is the rest of the money?

And Was the money not enough to test the rest of the players in lower leagues?

According to the Nation media group, the coach is claiming in an off-the-record interview that he had only been paid 20 million from a total of about 110 million that was the total compensation amount.

The back and forth about the Covid-19 fund disbursed by FIFA to the Kenyan federation has been a big topic of discussion with Netizens wondering is it a case of money looted or were the funds channeled to the wrong cause?
