Eugene Wamalwa, a seasoned politician and leader of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), is facing heavy criticism online after a shocking video emerged on July 10, 2025.
In the video, a visibly distressed Kenyan woman claims that Wamalwa spent a night at a hotel with her and left without paying the bill, forcing her to clear the Ksh 33,000 charge herself.
The woman also says she lost her job as a result of the incident. While there has been no official statement from Wamalwa or his party, the silence has only fueled public anger.
The video was posted by the account @KenyanSays and has since gone viral, racking up over 140,000 views.
The woman details how she found herself in the unfortunate situation, explaining that Wamalwa and his entourage consumed food and drinks at the hotel, checked out without paying, and vanished, leaving the entire bill in her name.
In a country where unemployment and economic hardships are already pressing issues, this sort of behavior from a public leader has angered many Kenyans online.
One user, @PHIAMAX, summed up the mood by saying, “Shame on you @EugeneLWamalwa it’s disgraceful that you can afford to fuel a V8 but can’t pay a bill of Ksh 33,000. Lipa ndeni wewe mzee.”
Although some people have questioned the credibility of the story, pointing out that most hotels demand payment upfront, others believe the woman and want Wamalwa held accountable.
The fact that the woman claims she lost her job makes this more than just a personal embarrassment it raises questions about how powerful individuals treat ordinary citizens and the consequences they leave behind. It is not just about a bill.
It is about how a leader uses his position to escape responsibility and leaves destruction in his wake.
Wamalwa’s continued silence is making matters worse. He has not issued a denial or explanation.
For a man who once served as Cabinet Secretary and claims to lead a party that values justice and dignity, this is not just bad optics it’s political arrogance.
The longer he avoids the matter, the more it appears he has something to hide. The woman’s pain is real, and she deserves answers.
Even if this was just a misunderstanding, Wamalwa should have addressed it by now. The public is not asking for a trial they are asking for a response.
Ignoring the claims does not make them disappear. Instead, it paints him as someone who feels he’s above the law and public accountability.
Politicians are quick to call press conferences for publicity, but when an ordinary Kenyan suffers because of their actions, they vanish. This incident may not be officially confirmed yet, but its damage is already felt.
It has exposed a serious lack of respect from Wamalwa toward the people he wants to lead. In a country trying to rise from economic hardship, leaders should be setting the example not skipping bills and crushing the lives of those they exploit.
