“We will in the coming days assign a team to the section to help him in delivering on the mandate.” read part of the memo.

Waihiga Mwaura brings on board a rich journalism experience spanning more than 10 years, covering national news, investigative stories and other special reports.

His appointment is expected to help steer Citizen TV‘s Special Projects Desk into the new dispensation of multi-media content generation and dissemination.

Waihiga takes over the position vacated by former Citizen TV anchor Asha Mwilu who was the immediate former Special Projects Editor at the station.

Mwilu left Royal Media Services at the back end of May 2020 to focus on her new startup project dubbed Debunk Media.

Before joining the RMS, Asha Mwilu was the Features and Documentaries Editor at Standard Group’s KTN.

Asha and Waihiga have worked together in exposes such as the Mara Heist in 2019 which led to the arrest of Maasai Mara University Vice Chancellor on August 24.
