Turkana Senator James Lomenen is now in the middle of a serious police investigation after Sh20 million reportedly went missing from his Syokimau home on the same night former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was impeached.
This incident, reported on Thursday, February 13, 2025, has raised many questions about the source of the money and the events that led to its disappearance.
The case took an unusual turn when police raided the home of Trizar Theo Warriong in Kamulu on February 9, accusing her of stealing the missing cash.
However, the raid itself is now under probe, as two of the officers involved were from Njathaini Police Station in Kiambu County, while the third officer’s identity remains a mystery.
Trizar claims that on the night of the raid, she was attacked in her home by officers who forced their way into her bedroom.
She says they took Sh1.9 million in cash and an additional Sh200,000 before forcing her into a vehicle. Instead of taking her to a police station, the officers allegedly drove her around to different locations, demanding that she reveal where the rest of the money was hidden.
According to Trizar, she was tortured during this time before being dumped back at her home in the early morning hours. Her account of the incident has sparked concerns about the conduct of the officers involved, as well as the real motive behind the raid.

Ruai Sub-County Police Commander Martin Wekesa has confirmed the ongoing investigations into the matter.
He stated that the police have not yet been able to meet with Senator Lomenen to establish the exact nature of his connection to Trizar and the missing money.
This raises further questions about whether the senator personally reported the alleged theft or if there are other interests at play in the case.
Despite being at the center of the controversy, the senator has remained silent, making no public statements regarding the allegations.
His silence is particularly notable given that he was among the lawmakers who voted in favor of removing Gachagua from office.
The mysterious disappearance of such a large amount of money, combined with the unusual police operation, has fueled speculation about what really happened that night.
The involvement of officers from a different jurisdiction and the alleged mistreatment of Trizar raise doubts about whether the raid was an official operation or a targeted attempt to recover the money without proper legal procedures.
The lack of clear communication from both the senator and the police further deepens the mystery, leaving the public with more questions than answers. This case also brings attention to the issue of large sums of unaccounted money being stored in private residences by politicians.
The circumstances suggest that this was not ordinary household cash, and its disappearance could be linked to political or business dealings that remain undisclosed.
The fact that the money vanished on the same night Gachagua was impeached only adds to the speculation that this may be more than just a random theft. Whether the funds had a political purpose or were simply personal savings is yet to be determined.
For now, the focus remains on the police investigation and whether any arrests will be made in connection to the missing money. The involvement of officers from a different county, the alleged torture of Trizar, and the silence from the senator all point to a case that is far from straightforward.
It remains to be seen whether this incident will expose deeper financial and political dealings or if it will simply be dismissed as a failed robbery.
Whatever the outcome, the controversy surrounding the missing Sh20 million has already put Senator Lomenen in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
