President William Ruto has led Kenyans in mourning the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah.
The President described him as a visionary elder and a hardworking businessman who contributed greatly to the growth of Kikuyu Town.
In his condolence message, President Ruto praised Mzee Ngugi for his commitment to uplifting the community and for empowering those who were most in need through various initiatives.

Ruto added that Mzee Ngugi’s life story was one of purpose and sacrifice, reminding Kenyans to uphold the same spirit of giving and unity that he stood for.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula was the first to publicly confirm the passing of Mzee Ngugi.
He announced that the 105-year-old patriarch died peacefully in his sleep at his Kikuyu home on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Wetang’ula described him as a man whose life was marked by resilience and wisdom, saying that Kenyans should not only mourn but also celebrate his century-long journey.
He encouraged people to reflect on the values that defined him, including hard work, discipline, and service to others.Other leaders quickly sent their messages of condolence, expressing solidarity with Ichung’wah and his family.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family as they adjust to the loss.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen also shared his sympathies, hailing Mzee Ngugi as a man of honor whose influence extended beyond Kikuyu and left an impact on many.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo described him as a noble elder whose life was a blessing and a reflection of purpose, adding that living to 105 years was a sign of grace and fulfillment.
Mzee Ngugi’s passing has left a deep void in the Kikuyu community, where he was widely respected as a mentor and a guiding figure for both the young and the old.
