“Stop the hypocrisy” CS Alice Wahome condemns ODM for saying they are not in government

Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, Alice Wahome, has strongly criticized ODM leaders, accusing them of playing a double game.

According to her, these leaders are pretending to be in the opposition while enjoying the benefits of working closely with President William Ruto’s administration. Wahome believes this behavior is dishonest and misleading to the public.

She pointed out that some of Raila Odinga’s close allies are already holding key positions in the Kenya Kwanza government, despite Raila constantly claiming he is not part of the ruling side.

She said such claims are false and are meant to confuse Kenyans. In her statement, Wahome said it is not right for ODM to act like an opposition party during rallies and media briefings, then participate in important government decisions behind the scenes.

She believes this kind of behavior damages the public’s trust and leaves voters unsure of who is truly fighting for their interests.

According to her, ODM leaders cannot have it both ways. They must either fully commit to opposing the government or openly admit that they are now working together with it.

Wahome added that this lack of honesty weakens democracy and makes it harder for citizens to hold the government accountable.

She also said that Kenya is going through a tough period of reforms and economic struggles, and during such times, the country needs political leaders who are clear, firm, and honest about where they stand.

Wahome defended the Kenya Kwanza government’s decision to appoint leaders from opposition parties. She said this was done to promote inclusivity and national unity. However, she warned that those who accept government appointments should stop attacking the same administration they are part of.

She said it is unfair and hypocritical to criticize a government you are working in.Her comments come at a time when there is growing tension within ODM. Some members of the party are beginning to question why their leadership is getting so close to the government.

Critics believe that ODM cannot properly check and question the government if it continues to work closely with it behind closed doors. Wahome urged Raila Odinga to be more honest with his supporters. She said he should stop giving mixed signals and let the people know exactly where he stands. She emphasized that the time for political doublespeak is over.

Wahome wants all leaders to speak clearly, take a firm position, and act in the best interest of the country. Her remarks are likely to spark more debate about the true role of the opposition in Kenya’s current political scene.
