The opening of the Africa Forward Summit on Monday 11th May was filled with several activities that involved France President, Emmanuel Macron.During a presentation that was part of the ongoing summit, a visibly angry President Macron rose to the podium and interrupted the presentation to call for order from the audience.
President Macron termed it a disrespectful act for members in the audience to keep making noise during the presentation.
His statement has since resulted to mixed reactions while creating a debate online on if the President was in order.
Popular lawyer and political analyst, Miguna Miguna was not left out.
Through his X account, the vocal lawyer told President Macron to ‘shut up’ while claiming that the French leader has no right to speak to Africans on their own soil.”Shut up, Emmanuel Macron: You have no right to speak condescendingly to Africans in their own country and continent.” Miguna said.
The former advisor to the late Raila Odinga and st some point a contestant in the Nairobi gubernatorial race was quick to point out that after years of slavery and exploitation of Africans by the Europeans, they cannot lecture Africans on Respect.
“After hundreds of years of slavery, colonialism, exploitation, repression and racism by the French and other Europeans against Africans, you, a pathetic slave master, can’t lecture Africans about “respect.” Miguna Miguna said.
Africa Forward Summit is expected to attract more leaders from different countries as more activities involving shaping the future of Africa are expected to continue.
