“Sadly, They Will Oppose” Moses Kuria Hits At Kenyans Stuck On Nairobi-Nakuru Traffic

Moses Kuria, a senior government advisor, has criticized Kenyans over yesterday’s traffic jam on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Kuria took to his X account on Saturday, December 21, to criticize Kenyans for seeking improved roads while opposing government initiatives.

In particular, the former Public Service Cabinet Secretary chastised Kenyans for resisting Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) aimed at building major highways, including the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

According to him, the traffic congestion on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway demonstrated that the country needed new methods for infrastructure development.

“The Rironi-Mau Summit Dualling must be carried out on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. Sadly the same people stuck in the gridlock today will also oppose the dealing using a Private Partner,” Moses Kuria noted.

Kuria’s comments came a day after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) warned motorists of a traffic bottleneck on two stretches of the Nairobi-Nakuru route.

In its caution, the Authority asked drivers on the Nairobi-Nakuru route to be patient and follow lane markings for their own and other drivers’ safety.

In a release on Friday, December 20, KeNHA Director General Kung’u Ndung’u stated that the traffic congestion only affected the Rironi-Naivasha-Nakuru Road and the Rironi-Mai Mahiu-Naivasha Route.

“The Authority, with the support of traffic police, are at hand to give the necessary guidance and traffic control for a smooth flow in a bid to ensure you reach your destinations safely and without delays,” KeNHA noted.

KeNHA’s announcement came just moments after St John Ambulance reported a traffic jam on the Limuru-Maai Mahiu section, as well as between Kimende and the Flyover.

“Traffic alert! There is heavy traffic congestion along the Nairobi Nakuru Highway between Kimende and Flyover and also along the Limuru-Maaimahiu stretch. Avoid the area if you can,” St John Ambulance wrote.

Highway footage showed traffic coming to a halt when some vehicles collided, blocking the oncoming lane and rendering unusable.
