“Ruto needs to smell the coffee” Ahmednasir alleges CJ Koome’s grand plan to delegitimize Government

Senior lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has recently made strong statements criticizing Chief Justice Martha Koome and the judiciary, warning President William Ruto that the courts are actively working against his government.

Ahmednasir, known for his outspoken nature, did not hold back in his assessment of the current situation. He described the judiciary as being under what he called the “calamitous and clumsy leadership” of Chief Justice Koome, accusing it of targeting the President and his administration.

He urged President Ruto to wake up and recognize the reality of the situation, emphasizing that the judiciary is not acting in the government’s favor.

Ahmednasir’s words were direct and forceful. He stated, “President William Ruto needs to smell the coffee. The judiciary under the calamitous and clumsy leadership of CJ Martha Koome is after your blood and that of your government.”

This statement reflects his belief that the judiciary is not merely performing its duties impartially but is instead actively working to undermine the executive branch.

He further accused the judiciary of attempting to weaken both the executive and the legislature, claiming that the courts had already targeted Parliament and that the President would be next.

Ahmednasir warned that Ruto’s refusal to support judicial reforms would soon backfire, leaving him vulnerable to the judiciary’s actions. The lawyer’s comments come in the wake of a recent High Court ruling that declared Azimio la Umoja as the coalition with the majority of legislators based on the 2022 General Election results.

The court found that National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula acted unconstitutionally when he declared that Kenya Kwanza had the majority in Parliament.

This ruling has sparked debate in political circles, with leaders from Kenya Kwanza questioning the court’s decision and Azimio leaders celebrating it as a victory.

Ahmednasir’s criticism of the judiciary appears to be tied to this ruling, as he sees it as part of a broader pattern of judicial overreach.

Ahmednasir went on to claim that Chief Justice Koome and her judges have a “grand plan” to delegitimize both the executive and the legislature.

He argued that the judiciary’s actions are not just about interpreting the law but are part of a deliberate effort to weaken the other branches of government.

He warned that if President Ruto does not take action to support judicial reforms, he will soon find himself at the mercy of a judiciary that is no longer acting as a neutral arbiter but as an active participant in the political process.

The lawyer’s statements have added fuel to an already heated political environment. While some may view his comments as an overreaction, others see them as a necessary warning about the growing influence of the judiciary in Kenya’s politics.

Regardless of where one stands on the issue, it is clear that Ahmednasir’s words have sparked a conversation about the role of the judiciary and its relationship with the other branches of government.

It remains to be seen how President Ruto and his administration will respond to these allegations and whether they will take steps to address the concerns raised by Ahmednasir and others.
