Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has hinted that Amani National Congress (ANC) Musalia Mudavadi could agree to be Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 General Election.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Sakaja, a close ally of Mudavadi, noted that everything was possible in politics and that there would be no surprise if Mudavadi decides to work with Ruto in the coming elections.

“Musalia could be Ruto’s running mate. It is his decision. That’s why I am saying in politics anything can happen. But when these things are being done, he will have to convince his supporters,” Sakaja told Jeff Koinange on JKL show yesterday.

Sakaja, who is also eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2022, also noted that politics is about numbers and any candidate that One Kenya Alliance(OKA) leaders will support will become the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya.

“If they decide to back William Ruto, he will become president in the morning. If they decide to back Raila Odinga, he will become president in the morning. A lot is gonna happen and a lot is happening behind the scenes,” Sakaja stated.

However, neither Ruto nor Mudavadi has shown any signs of working together towards the 2022 elections as both of them have vowed to be on the ballot.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, an ardent ally of Mudavadi has insisted in several occasions that their candidate must be in the ballot come 2022.

“I want you to state here clearly that you will be on the ballot. There are rumours that you will be supporting somebody for the top seat. The party settled on you and that is our stand,” Malala stated.

Mudavadi has also maintained that he will not back down for any other presidential candidate in the coming elections.

“I’m in this to the end. I have a clear plan to sail Kenyans to socio-economic prosperity. Anyone who thinks otherwise is day dreaming,” Mudavadi stated.
