Reckless driver Greg Mbanda Nyambare behind deadly Nairobi crash linked to previous hit-and-run

A tragic accident at Nyayo Stadium roundabout has exposed the dangers of reckless driving and the impunity of wealthy individuals who believe they can evade justice. On a fateful night, a VW Golf GTI (Reg. KDG 688G), suspected to have been part of an illegal street race, rammed into a staff van, killing a female passenger and leaving several others with serious injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Elsie Njeru from Embu, whose life was cruelly cut short due to one driver’s disregard for road safety.

Eyewitnesses recounted how the Golf was speeding from Mombasa Road before it crashed into the van, causing it to overturn violently in the middle of the intersection. Instead of taking responsibility, the driver of the Golf fled the scene, abandoning his injured passengers and leaving the victims to suffer.

The level of impunity displayed in this incident is shocking but not surprising, given the revelations now emerging about the vehicle and its owner.

Police investigations have linked the Golf GTI to Greg Mbanda Nyambare, a name that raises serious concerns.

This is not the first time the same vehicle has been involved in a criminal act. In May 2024, it was reported in a hit-and-run accident in Ruaraka, yet no arrests were made at the time. The latest incident confirms a pattern of reckless behavior and raises questions about why authorities have failed to act sooner.

It is evident that Nyambare has been allowed to operate above the law, possibly due to influential connections.

Further investigations indicate that the crash was not an isolated case of speeding but part of an illegal street race. Witnesses saw a yellow Ford Mustang speeding past the wreckage moments after the crash, suggesting that multiple drivers were engaged in dangerous racing that night.

Street racing in Nairobi has become a growing menace, often involving privileged individuals who modify high-performance cars to compete on public roads without regard for the lives of other road users.

The consequences are now tragically clear. Adding to the scandal, authorities have confirmed that the suspect has not turned himself in but instead sent intermediaries to the Industrial Area Police Station to gather information on the case.

This is a clear indication that he is trying to avoid accountability. Instead of cooperating with law enforcement, he remains on the run, leaving grieving families and injured victims to seek justice on their own.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, report it to the police immediately. Justice for Elsie Njeru and the injured victims must be served.
