A tragic accident at Nyayo Stadium roundabout has exposed the dangers of reckless driving and the impunity of wealthy individuals who believe they can evade justice. KDG 688G), suspected to have been part of an illegal street race, rammed into a staff van, killing a female passenger and leaving several others with serious injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Elsie Njeru from Embu, whose life was cruelly cut short due to one driver’s disregard for road safety.
Eyewitnesses recounted how the Golf was speeding from Mombasa Road before it crashed into the van, causing it to overturn violently in the middle of the intersection. Instead of taking responsibility, the driver of the Golf fled the scene, abandoning his injured passengers and leaving the victims to suffer.
The level of impunity displayed in this incident is shocking but not surprising, given the revelations now emerging about the vehicle and its owner.
Police investigations have linked the Golf GTI to Greg Mbanda Nyambare, a name that raises serious concerns.
This is not the first time the same vehicle has been involved in a criminal act. In May 2024, it was reported in a hit-and-run accident in Ruaraka, yet no arrests were made at the time. The latest incident confirms a pattern of reckless behavior and raises questions about why authorities have failed to act sooner.
