Police in Kisumu Central Sub-County have arrested two suspected burglars who are believed to be behind a string of break-ins in the Milimani area.
The arrests came after officers on routine patrol spotted the suspects loading what appeared to be stolen household items into a vehicle.
When they tried to escape, police acted quickly and apprehended them.During the arrest, authorities recovered a wide range of stolen goods.
These included a 65-inch television, several household electronics, gym equipment, a CCTV camera, a cool box, a power supply unit, a solar panel, a projector, and other personal items.
The recovery of these items helped confirm the suspects’ involvement in multiple thefts within the neighborhood.
Further investigations revealed that the suspects were connected to an earlier burglary at the same premises.
During that incident, items such as laptops, a gas cylinder, various dumbbell weights, and a Hasa safe had been stolen.
The safe had been damaged and later found abandoned at Islamia Cemetery along Airport Road. Police believe the suspects had been operating in the area for some time, targeting homes and stealing valuable equipment.
The suspects are now held at Kisumu Central Police Station as investigations continue.
The vehicle used in the crime has been impounded and will be examined for any additional evidence that could link it to other offenses. Police are also checking whether the duo had accomplices or were involved in other burglaries across Kisumu County.
The National Police Service has praised the officers involved for their quick response, which prevented the suspects from fleeing with stolen property.
The swift action highlights the police’s ongoing efforts to address burglary and similar crimes, which have been a concern for residents in Milimani and surrounding areas.
Authorities continue to urge the public to report suspicious activity and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure community safety.
