On the night of July 29, 2025, Kenyans on X were shocked by reports that Patrick Osoi, a former Kenyan military officer and a rising political figure, had been abducted by armed men.
The men were believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, though no official confirmation has been given.
The incident caused panic among his supporters who demanded immediate answers from the authorities about his whereabouts and safety.
Many fear this could be a case of political targeting.
Osoi is well known as the leader of the FBI Movement, a growing political group that speaks out strongly against corruption and police brutality.
His bold messages and promises of reform have made him especially popular among young Kenyans. Many see him as a fresh voice willing to challenge a system that they believe has failed them.
The 35-year-old, who was born in Vihiga and raised in Embu, served in the army between 2014 and 2020. After his military service, he worked with several security teams, both locally and internationally, gaining experience that he now applies to his activism and political vision.
Soon after news of the abduction spread, social media accounts like @MwangiHub, @Goddie_Ke, and @BernardKavuli began sharing updates, claiming that Osoi had been taken to an unknown location.
These posts created a wave of speculation and concern. Hours later, a post from @OsoiPatrick stated that he was at Muthaiga Police Station and had been charged with “preparation to commit a felony.”
However, no further explanation was given about the charge or the events leading to his arrest.
This raised even more questions, with many online users suggesting the case was politically motivated.
Some posts went further, suggesting that Osoi’s arrest was a plan to stop his growing influence before the 2027 general elections.
This is also not the first time Osoi has faced trouble with the authorities. In October 2024, he was arrested near Milimani Law Courts while supporting another activist. He was denied bail and held at Kilimani Police Station.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the DCI or the police about the recent incident.
Social media users continue to demand justice, using hashtags like #FreePatrickOsoi and #DrainTheSwamp to push for answers.
