Patrick Karzola on Political Ringside lays out his vision for change, term limits and a new style of politics in Kenya

Businessman and aspiring leader Patrick Karzola has made it clear that his political choices are driven by results, not regional expectations, after openly backing President William Ruto in a candid interview on Political Ringside with the host Kevin Waswa.

Karzola, who is vying for the Member of County Assembly seat in the 2027 elections, said his decision is also shaped by his desire to bring practical solutions to the grassroots, noting that local leadership offers a direct opportunity to address everyday challenges facing residents while building a strong foundation for public service.

His position immediately drew attention because he comes from the Nyanza region, an area often associated with a different political direction.

Speaking during the interview, Patrick Karzola explained that his support for the current administration is based on what he sees as tangible progress in key sectors.

He pointed to the revival of the sugar industry, highlighting improvements at Sony Sugar, as a sign that struggling industries can be brought back to life with the right leadership.

He also referenced ongoing investments in modern health facilities, saying better healthcare access is one of the most important measures of a government’s performance.

Karzola emphasized that Kenya is gradually shifting into a new political phase where voters are becoming more focused on development rather than long-standing regional loyalties.

According to him, the time has come for leaders to be judged on clear outcomes such as job creation, infrastructure development, and improved public services.

He argued that this approach encourages accountability and pushes leaders to deliver meaningful change.

The discussion also turned to his own political ambitions, where he spoke about his interest in serving at the county level.

Patrick Karzola described the position of Member of County Assembly as a critical office that allows leaders to engage directly with citizens and address everyday challenges.

He noted that grassroots leadership provides valuable experience and a deeper understanding of the needs of ordinary wananchi, making it an important step for anyone aiming for higher national roles.

On governance, Karzola proposed the introduction of a two term limit for elected representatives.

He believes that limiting time in office would create space for new leaders to emerge, bringing fresh ideas and renewed energy into public service. In his view, long stays in leadership can slow down progress and prevent younger voices from contributing to national development.

He also addressed the nature of political campaigns, stating that he prefers issue based politics centered on development agendas rather than strategies built on propaganda, fear, or the use of intimidation.

He stressed that leaders must rise above divisive tactics and instead focus on uniting communities through practical solutions.

Karzola further highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership, especially in a political environment that can easily become tense. He warned that careless statements and actions by leaders can deepen divisions, making it necessary for those in public office to exercise restraint and responsibility.

The interview reinforced Political Ringside’s growing reputation as a platform where leaders can express honest views and engage with the public on critical national issues.

In hosting conversations like this, the platform continues to shape public debate and offer insight into the changing direction of Kenya’s political landscape.
